- Delhi-based think tank Center for Policy Research (CPR) has got its Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) registration suspended by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for 180 days.
- A government official said that the suspension was imposed due to initial violations of FCRA rules.
- The Income Tax Department visited the CPR office on 7th September, 2022.
- Foreign funds can be received only with FCRA registration, which means that the CPR will not be able to accept fresh foreign donations or use donations already approved without the approval of the MHA.
- Founded in 1973, CPR conducts research that contributes to higher quality scholarship, better policies and a more robust public discourse on issues affecting India.

- Kepler data revealed that India has overtaken Saudi Arabia to become the largest supplier of refined fuel to Europe.
- This comes as a result of Europe’s reduced access to Russian oil and their increased dependence on Indian crude oil products.
- Europe is set to increase its refined fuel imports from India by over 360,000 barrels per day.
- This ultimately creates more demand for Moscow crude, which carries freight costs.
- Russia’s crude oil imports to India are expected to exceed 2 million barrels per day in April.
- This import accounts for about 44% of India’s total oil imports.
