Formula of average speed
average speed = total distance traveled / total time taken
Or, in mathematical terms:
v_avg = d / t
Where:
- v_avg is the average speed,
- d is the total distance traveled, and
- t is the total time taken.
Note that average speed is a scalar quantity, and does not take into account the direction of motion. If you want to find the average velocity, you need to specify the direction as well.
